    Abstract

Shallot hay can be use as feed suplement because they have function in the body example to fixed and to easy digestion, multiply saliva and also eliminate mucus in oesophagus. Besides that, containing allin earn combain with brimstone form other compound in the form of allisin. Allisin can combain with B1 vitamin ( thiamine ) form allitiamin compound. This compound is easier permeated from at its form of. This research was conducted to know the effect of using shallot hay as suplement feed and to know optimal suplementation level on performance of male local sheep. This research already completed since 16 September until 19 Desember 2006 during 14 weeks in Ngegot village, countryside Selokaton, district of Gondangrejo, Karanganyar sub-province. This research used 16 male local sheep with about 7 month old and the average of body weight is 13,63 + 0,63 kg. They were divided into four treatments and four replications, with every replication consist of a male local sheep. Feed were given grass and BC concentrat 132 Puspetasari production. Treatment feed in the form of hay shallot ( Allium ascalonicum ) as suplement feed. With the following suplementation level of P0 ( 0% ), P1 ( 1% ), P2 ( 2% ), P3 ( 3% ). This research variable was feed consumption, average day gain, feed conversion, and ratio feed cost per gain. The data obtained to be analysed with variance analysis use Completely Randomized Design while feed cost per gain reported descriptively. 42 Result of research show that the average of four treatments are P0, P1, P2, P3 for the feed consumption ( DM ) are 744,03; 740,67; 765,27; and 721,44 ( g/head/day ). The average of daily gain are 85,00; 91,79; 90,36; and 79,25 ( g/head/day ). The average of feed conversion ratio are 8,98; 8,24; 8,73; and 9,60. The result of variance analysis on feed consumption, average daily gain and feed conversion ratio shown non significant. The value of feed cost per gain is 17762,78; 16350,91; 17366,32 and Rp 191166,61. Feed cost per gain in P1 shown most efficient than other treatment. Conclusion from this research was shallot hay suplementation ( Allium ascalonicum ) up to level 3% could not increase feed consumption, average daily gain, feed conversion ratio, and shallot hay suplementation ( Allium ascalonicum ) until level 1% can depress value of feed cost per gain.
