    Abstract

    This reseach intended to evaluate the effect of kapuk seed meal (KSM) utilization on the rations toward the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter on native male sheep. It was conducted during 10 weeks from September to November 2007 in mini farm , Department of Animal Science, Agriculture Faculty, University of Sebelas Maret Surakarta which is located in Jatikuwung, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar. It used 16 native male sheep with average of daily weight 12,6+1,09 kg which their age less than one year. The research’s design was completely randomized design (CRD) one way classification with 4 treatment and 4 replication, each replication used one native male sheep. The ration which is used native tropical grass, BC 132 concentrate, molasses and kapuk seed meal (KSM). The treatment which is given in the utilization of KSM within rations and they are 0%(P0), 5%(P1), 10%(P2) and 15%(P3). Based on the result, datas of P0, P1, P2 and P3, for dry matter consumption were 556,4; 651,8; 688,7 and 671,6 gram/head/day, organic matter comsumption were 477,9; 565,9; 597,2 and 584,5 gram/head/day, dry matter digestibility were 61,4%; 60,4%; 63,4% and 65,1%, and for organic matter digestibility were 62,6%; 61,5%; 63,0% and 66,9 % respectively. ix Analysis variansi from the reseach were not significant different for dry matter consumption, organic matter consumption, dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility. It can be concluded that kapuk seed meal can be used within rations until 15% level without any effect toward dry matter consumption, organic matter consumption, dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility.
