    Abstract

    The problem formulation specifically can be described as follows : "What approach contextual can improve the ability write the description to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri Kepatihan Surakarta in the2009 / 2010academic year. The objectives of this Research is The improvement the ability write the deskription with the approach of contextual to the fifth grade students of Kepatihan Surakarta in the2009 / 2010academic year. This research is executed to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri Kepatihan Surakarta. Form this research is Classroom Action Research by using cycle model. Every cycle consisted of 4 steps, that is : planning, implementation of action, observation, and reflection. As subjek is student and teacher of fifth grade of SD NegeriKepatihan which its student amount to 22 students. Technique data collecting used the observation, interview, test and documents. Test the data validity used Democratic validity while the strategy using source trangulation and theoretical triangulation. Data analyse technique used was interactive analyse model which has three components; those are data reduction, data display, and conclusion taking. Based on result of Classroom Action Reseach at cycle I indicated improvement of ability write the description in aspect of theme determination. Average grades of theme determination was 63,64 respectively, with the percentage of students who achieved KKM grades were 18% ( 4 students ). At cycle II improvement of ability write the description was indicated for aspects of idea presentation, theme determination and words selection with average grade was 74.55 and students who achieved KKM grades were 91% ( 20 students ). At cycle III showed improvement of ability write the description in aspect of idea presentation, theme determination, words selection and words composing and the average grade was 79,55 and percentage of students who achieved KKM grades were 100 % ( 22 students ). Therefore, it is recommended that improvement ability write the description can be improved to through the approach contextual to the fifth grade students of SD Negeri Kepatihan Surakarta in the 2009 / 2010 academic year.
