    Abstract

The Effects of Contextual Approach and Creativity on Paragraph Develop Ability (An Experiment on Grade X Students of State Senior Secondary School 1 of Jatinom and Karanganom). Thesis. The Study Program of Indonesian Language Education, Postgraduate Program, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Generally this research is purposed to know (1) if there are differences of the influence on paragraph develop ability between students taught by using contextual approach and conventional approach, (2) if there are differences of the influence on paragraph develop ability between students who have high creativity and students who have low creativity and (3) if there is interaction between learning approach and students creativity on paragraph develop ability. This research method uses the experiment of factorial design 2X2. The population of this research are the students of SMA Negeri 1 Jatinom and SMA N 1 Karanganom Klaten. The experiment class is from SMA Negeri 1 Jatinom counted 40 students and The comparator class is from SMA Negeri 1 Karanganom counted 40 students. All sample are 80 students. This sample is taken by multistage cluster random sampling technique. Data collecting technique is by using some tests; verbal creativity test and test of paragraph develop ability. Data analysis technique by using variant analysis two lines. The result of the research can be conclude that (1) there are some significant differences on paragraph develop ability between students taught by contextual approach and students taught by using conventional approach; (2) there are some significant differences on paragraph develop ability between students who have high creativity and students who have low creativity; and (3) it can be found the significant interaction between learning approach and creativity on paragraph develop ability From these learning approach used, this research give the evidence that in learning process by using contextual approach give a high learning achievement compared with learning process by using conventional approach; from the creativity point of view, this research give the evidence that paragraph develop ability who has high creativity is better than the students who have low creativity. Meanwhile from the interaction point of view between learning approach and creativity gives the result that paragraph develop ability have an average rank from the highest level; (1) The students who have high creativity taught by using contextual approach, the average score is 82,15; (2) The students who have high creativity taught by using conventional approach, the average score is 67,45; (3) The student who has low creativity taught by using conventional approach, the average score is 55,35; (4) The students who have low creativity taught by using contextual approach , the average score is 54,60
