    Abstract

    This thesis is written : (1) to know the relation between parents' education level with sociology achievement at eleven grade of social class of SMA N 1 Surakarta in academic year 2010/2011. (2) to know the relation between learning motivation with sociology achievement at eleven grade of social class of SMA N 1 Surakarta in academic year 2010/2011. (3) to know the relation between parents' education level and learning motivation with sociology achievement at eleven grade of social class of SMA N 1 Surakarta in academic year 2010/2011. The method that is used in this research is descriptive quantitative correlational. The population of the research is eleven grade of social class of SMA N 1 Surakarta in academic year 2010/2011, that consists of 303 students. The sample of the research is taken by using cluster random sampling it’s about 25% from population number a number of 75 students. The technique in collecting data is questionnaire. The technique of analyzing data is statistic analysis and double regression. Based on the result of the research implies that : (1) Hypothesis 1 “There was a significant positive relation between parents' education level with sociology achievement at eleven grade of social class of SMA N 1 Surakarta in academic year 2010/2011” it can be acceptable because r= 0.372 and p = 0.008 ( p <0.05). (2) Hypothesis 2 “There was a significant positive relation between learning motivation with sociology achievement at eleven grade of social class of SMA N 1 Surakarta in academic year 2010/2011” it can be acceptable because r = 0.336 and p = 0.017 (p <0.05). (3) Hypothesis 3 “There was a significant positive relation between parents' education level and learning motivation with sociology achievement at eleven grade of social class of SMA N 1 Surakarta in academic year 2010/2011” it can be acceptable because r = 0.471 and p = 0.003 (p < 0.05).
