    Rusminingsih. S. 810207015.2008. Social science learning for Elementary school in district Binangun. The thesis of education technologi program, post graduate work program, Sebelas maret university of Surakarta. The purposes of this research are to know : (1) Approach, method, and media used by the teachers for social science in elementary school, (2) the way the teacher of the sixth year chooses the approach, method, and media in social science learning, (3) The obstacle which is faced by the teacher of the sixth year in using approach, method, and media which have be prepared in sicial science learning, and (4) Students participation in sicial science learning with the approach, method, and media appied by the teacher of the sixth year. This research uses descriptive – guantitative research method with the single case study strategy as the research focuses on characteristic, namely approach, method, and media for socia, science learning. The source of the data consists of (1) informant consists of the sixth year teacher, the headmester, the students of the sixth year, (2) the activities, such as teaching and learning include learning facilities, (3) location is all school environment especially the classroom, and file and document consists of learning document, sillabus, and student asignments. The data is collected by intensive interview, observation, and document analysis. Analysis technique uses interactive analysis model, it’s interaction among the data collection and three cmponents, such as data presentasion, data reduction, and verify the summary cyclely. The result of this research show that (1) The teachers of the sixth year of elementary school in district Binangun often use process approach with the speech approach, Question – Answer method, disscusion, sometimes giving assignment as a variation of the speech approach, and discovery method inquiry is seldom used or most of the sixth year teachers do not use this method, (2) in choosing approach and learning method, the teacher does not use technique in syllabus but usee the old technique to finish the matery, (3) The obstacle which is faced in history learning is the limination of the facilities in library, the teacher is not from the history program and social science is far from the history site, and (4) only a tew of students participate in history learning, they ask and answer the teacher’s question and discuss it if the teacher ask, other students are not interested in history learning by showing tao bad activity and keep silent because of boring. The resilt of this research can be input in making dacision in education field especially by UPT Cultural and education department in distric Binangun, the headmaster, the teacher of sixth year in developing the approach, method, and media in social science learning.
