    Abstract

    The objectives of this research were (1) To describe the overall increase in student participation in learning activities, the subjects of Social Sciences through the implementation of cooperative learning methods of the type of Group Investigation (GI) of the Student in Grade IXE of State Junior secondary School 1 Purwodadi, Grobogan Regency, (2) To describe an increase in student learning outcomes in the subjects of Social Sciences through implementation of cooperative learning methods of type Group Investigation (GI), (3) To Know the factors inhibiting the application of Group Investigation method of cooperative learning in the learning of Social Sciences, especially for Grade IXE of State Junior secondary School 1 Purwodadi, Grobogan Regency in the Academic Year 2010/2011. The design of this research are the Classroom Action Research. Research carried out at State Junior secondary School 1 Purwodadi. The research lasted from July to September 2010 in 3 (three) siclus. The data techniques/ using the method of observation, interviews, and test results of learning. Subjects were students in grade IX E at State Junior secondary School 1 Purwodadi in the academic year 2010/2011. From the results of the implementation of cooperative learning methods of learning with the type of Group Investigation (GI), it can be concluded that (1) with the implementation of cooperative learning methods of the type of Group Investigation (GI) may increase student participation, which includes aspects of the spirit in the teaching of 35%, the cooperation within the group by 72%, amounting to 57.5% of expression, and ask questions by 55%. The implementation of cooperative learning methods of type Group Investigation (GI) can also improve teachers' scientific performance. This proves that the method of cooperative learning type Group Investigation (GI) create the learning meaningful for students. (2) The results showed that the use of cooperative learning methods of the type of Group Investigation (GI) increase student achievement by 14.42%. Thus the use of group investigation method of cooperative learning improve student achievement. (3) The implementation of cooperative learning methods Group Investigation (GI) requires some prerequisites to be met, including the preparation of teachers and learning environment.
