    Abstract

    Pejagoan sub district is an outskirt that border on the central administration of Kebumen Regency. This position causes some people prefer to go to city for schooling. This condition becomes one of the factors of the decreasing the sum of students acceptance in Pejagoan sub district. Many schools lacks of students. Kebumen Regency education department planed to reduce some schools that did not fulfill criteria. The determining of lo cation and the number of schools has to appropriate in order to not make problems in the future. In this study, the determining of location and the number of school in Pejagoan sub district were done by identifying the location and the distance of students’ house to the location. The school location that are appointed, were determined by using three models, p-center, p-median, and maximal covering model. These were done to identify the performance of each of the models. The calculation result concluded that p-median model is the most appropriate model to solve the problem. From 26 schools that are appointed to be survive, it can be identify that the average distance of students applicant is 215.98 meters, deviation standard is 138.08 meters, and the farthest distance is 1229.3 meters.
