## Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the applying of co-operative learning model of Group Investigation ( GI) in improving students achievement in learning financial accounting at students of XI Accountancy 1 in SMK Negeri 3 Surakarta year of 2009 / 2010. This research uses class action model. The object research is students of XI Accountancy 1 SMK Negeri 3 Surakarta which consists of 38 students. This research is done using collaboration between class teacher, researcher and student. This research was by giving actions at the cycle I and cycle II by researcher, while teacher as collaborator in supervising and evaluating financial accounting learning. The techniques of collecting data in this research are : 1) observation, 2) interview and 3) test. The procedure of this research including : a) identifying the problem, b) planning, c) action, d) implementation and e) report arranging. The research process was done in two cycle, each cycle consisted of four phases, namely : a). action planning, b) action implementation, c) observation and interpretation and d) analysis and reflection, each cycle was done in three times meeting and the time of each meeting is 9 x 45 minutes. From the research that was done, it can conclude that the improving of students achievement in learning financial accounting through applying co-operative learning model of Group Investigation (GI). It can bee seen from the increasing of the students who were being active in learning the lesson as many as 16,32% from 25 students or equal as 65,26% at the first cycle become 31 students or equal as 81,58% at the second cycle, the increasing of working together their teammates equal as 8,95% from 26 students or as many as 67,37% at the first cycle become 29 students or equal as 76,32% at the second cycle, and the increasing of completeness students learning result equal as 15,79% from 26 students or as many as 68,42% at the first cycle become 32 students or equal as 84,21% at the second cycle.
