    Abstract

    Nitriding has been carried out on alloys based on FeCrNi as reactor structural material to improve the resistance of high temperature corrosion. The aim of determine the ratio of duration of nitriding and the duration of corrosion on the top of the crystal FeCrNi, and determine the ratio of N elements contained in the nitriding of FeCrNi during a period of 5 hours and 11 hours. General methodology of nitriding temperature of 5250C with a variation clock of 3, 5, 8, and 11 secon and corrosion by high temperature with a temperature of 6000C in the time of 5 hours, then tested using hardness test using vikers, SEM-EDS test to learned of many elements of N which diffuse in FeCrNi who has been to nitriding, and XRD tests to determine the field at the top of the crystal, corrosion testing to determine change in sample weight before and after corrosion. SEM characterization results of the formation of a best layer of nitrogen at the time of 11 hours with layer of nitrogen on the surface of approximately 18.49% of the mass (26.92% atom), it indicates that the longer the nitriding time, more nitrogen to diffuse. From the results of testing hardness 8 hours nitriding with the temperature 5250C has the highest hardness value compared with other specimens with VHN 183,868 kg/mm2. From the XRD results at the angle of about 64,975o form fields (220), and angle 44,6450 field (110). From the corrosion test results, all of samples experiencing weight gain because it shows the process of oxidation in the material that formed oxide on its surface.
