    Abstract

Experimentation of Mathematics Learning of Cooperative Method Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) Type and Cooperative Method Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Type considered from the Student Learning Styles. 1st advisor: Drs. Tri Atmojo Kusmayadi, M.Sc., Ph.D. 2nd advisor: Drs. Suyono, M.Si. Thesis. Mathematics Education Studies Program, Postgraduate Program Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. 2011. The purposes of this study are to determine: (1) whether the learning of mathematics in the material of linear and quadratic equation system using cooperative learning methods NHT type better than cooperative methods STAD type (2) whether students who have auditory learning style will have a better achievement compared with students who have a visual learning style, students who have auditory learning style will have a better achievement compared with students who have a kinesthetic learning style, and students who have a visual learning style will have a better achievement than students who have a kinesthetic learning style (3) whether the difference in achievement of each learning method consistent to each student's learning style and whether the differences among students' learning styles are consistent in each learning method. This study is a quasi experimental research with 2 3 factorial design. The population of this study is all tenth grade students of senior high schools in Kediri. Sampling was done by stratified cluster random sampling. The sample in this study are 219 people with details of 109 people for class experiment 1 and 110 people for class experiment 2. The Instruments used to collect data are mathematics achievement test and student learning styles questionnaire. Before being used for data collection, the instruments firstly tested. Validity of the content of test instruments and questionnaires were assessed by the validator. Reliability of test instruments tested using KR-20 formula, while the questionnaire instrument using Cronbach alpha formula. Discriminant of test and internal consistency of questionnaires using the product moment correlation formula of Karl Pearson. Average balance test using t test, with 0.05 concluded that both the experimental group in a balance condition. Prerequisites test include normality test using Lilliefors test method and homogeneity test using Bartlet method by Chi Square test statistic. With  0.05 concluded that the samples come from populations with normal distribution and homogeneous. Based on the hypothesis test, it is concluded that: (1) Cooperative learning methods NHT type provide a better performance than cooperative learning method STAD type. (2) Students with visual learning style have the same achievement with students with auditory learning styles. Students with visual learning style have the same achievement with students with kinesthetic learning styles. Students with auditory learning styles have a better academic achievement than students with kinesthetic learning styles. (3) Difference in achievement of each learning method is consistent with their respective learning styles and differences between individual learning style is consistent in each learning method. So in each learning method, students with visual learning style have the same achievement with students with auditory learning style, students with visual learning style have the same achievement with students with kinesthetic learning styles, students with auditory learning styles have better achievement than students with kinesthetic learning styles. Similarly, in their respective learning styles, cooperative learning methods NHT type provides better performance than cooperative learning method STAD type.
