    Abstract

    This study aimed to determine whether muslim consumers have gotten legal protection of seafood dishes in Surakarta’s restaurants and whether there was harmonization of legislation concerning the protection of muslim consumers. Before answering this problem, we need to know that the majority of consumers in Indonesia are muslims, for it is necessary to guarantee food product halal lawful and good (thoyyib). Necessary role of government in order to issue regulations regarding labeling halal and halal certification to ensure food halalness for muslim consumers. Listing of halal certification is voluntary and not compulsory, it is necessary for awarness from the perpetrators attempt to immediately record at home eating halal certification and consumer awareness of muslims about labeling halal and halal certification. Given the certification of halal and halal labeling is intended to protect muslim consumers from food products that are not halal. This study aims to identify muslim consumers already receive legal protection of seafood dishes in a restaurant to know in Surakarta’s restaurants and harmonization of existing legislation concerning the protection of muslim consumers. The benefit of this research is to provide a description and to provide information regarding laws and regulations related to legal protection for Muslim consumers. Types of research that writer is the normative nature of legal research prescriptive. Type of data in the form of primary and secondary data, with data sources of primary legal materials, legal materials, secondary and tertiary legal materials. Data analysis techniques used by the writer is a method of interpretation and silogosme. The result showed that the rules underlying the legal protection for muslim consumers of seafood dishes in a restaurant the city of Surakarta, among others, from the National Law is Undang-Undang Nomor 8 Tahun 1999 tentang Perlindungan Konsumen, Undang-Undang Nomor 7 Tahun 1996, Undang-Undang Nomor 36 Tahun 2009 tentang Kesehatan, Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 69 Tahun 1999 tentang Label dan Iklan Pangan dan Keputusan Menteri Agama Nomor 518 Tahun 2001 tentang Pedoman dan Tata Cara Pemeriksaan dan Penetapan Pangan Halal.
