    Abstract

    Noerrita Kuattiningsih. 2008. The Use of Songs to Teach English Vocabulary to Year 2 Students of SD Negeri Sekip I No.161 Surakarta. English Diploma Program, Faculty of Letters and Fine Arts, UNS. This report is written based on job training, which I have done on January, 21st 2008 in SD Negeri Sekip I No.161 Surakarta. The purpose of this report is to describe the use of songs to teach English Vocabulary to year 2 students of SD Negeri Sekip I No.161 Surakarta. The information for report was obtained by observing the class, and directly teaching year 2 students. The technique that I used in teaching and learning English Vocabulary is using songs. During the job training in SD Negeri Sekip I No.161 Surakarta, I found some benefits of songs to teach English Vocabulary. They are helping the students understand and memorize easily, making the students relax, making the class more productive, and helping the teacher to handle the class.
