    Abstract

    ABSTRAK SUYADI. S840208134. 2011. PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS SISWA KELAS VIIIA SMP NEGERI 3 ARJOSARI PACITAN DENGAN PENDEKATAN KONTEKSTUAL. Tesis: Program Pascasarjana. Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia. Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah 1) meningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran keterampilan menulis siswa kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 3 Arjosari Pacitan dengan pendekatan kontekstual dan 2) meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 3 Arjosari Pacitan dengan pendekatan kontekstual. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang mengambil lokasi di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Arjosari Pacitan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Rencana pembelajaran setiap siklus disusun oleh guru dan peneliti. Setiap tindakan terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Hasil refleksi dijadikan dasar untuk menyusun rencana tindakan. Penelitian melakukan bimbingan intensif kepada guru kelas VIII A tentang penerapan pendekatan kontekstual dalam pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa kelas VIII A yang masih rendah. Penelitian ini dapat dikatakan penelitian tindakan kelas secara kolaboratif. Yang menjadi subjek penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIIIA SMP Negeri 3 Arjosari Pacitan dan guru. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa minat dan keterampilan menulis siswa kelas VIII A. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket, pengamatan, wawancara atau diskusi, kajian dokumen, dan tes. Uji validitas data dalam penelitian ini dengan triangulasi data. Data yang telah terkumpul dianalisis dengan teknik analisis kritis dan komparatif. Simpulan hasil penelitian sebagai berikut: Pertama, penerapan pendekatan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan minat menulis siswa. Hal ini terlihat bahwa setelah dilakukan tindakan siswa membuat perencanaan sebelum menulis, merevisi setelah menyeleksi tulisan, menggunakan Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan, dan lebih senang berlatih menulis meskipun tidak diperintah guru. Kedua, penerapan pendekatan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa dari 64 menjadi 75,41. AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE THE STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILLS THROUGH CONTEXTUAL APPROACH: A CLASSROOM ACTION RESEARCH AT CLASS VIIIA OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 3 ARJOSARI PACITAN REGENCY. Thesis: The Graduate Program in Indonesian Language Education. Postgraduate Program. Sebelas Maret University. Surakarta. Objective of this research: 1) improve the quality of the learning process of writing skills class VIII A SMP Negeri 3 Arjosari Pacitan with contextual approach, 2) improve writing skills class VIII A SMP Negeri 3 Arjosari Pacitan with contextual approach. This research is a classroom action research. It can also be called as a collaborative classroom action research. The research was conducted at Grade VIIIA of State Junior High School 3 Arjosari Pacitan Regency and was conducted in three cycles. The lesson plan for each cycle was arranged by the class teacher and the researcher. Every class room action consisted of four stages, namely: 1) planning, 2) action, 3) observation, 4) reflection. This results of the reflection were used as the bases for arranging action plan. The class teacher of the students in Grade VIII A was intensively guided on the application of contextual approach so as to improve the writing skill of the students in Grade VIII A. which is stil low. The subjectts of the research and the data sources of the research were the students in Grade VIII A of Junior High School 3 Arjosari Pacitan Regency and teacher. The data of the research covered writing interest and writing skill of the students in Grade VIIIA. The data were gathered through questionnaire, observation, in-depth interview, discussion, content analysis (document analysis), and test. The data were validated by using a data triangulation technique. They were then analyzed by using critical and comparative techniques of analysis. Conclusion of this research as follows: firstly, the application of contextual approach can improve the students’ writing interest as indicated by facts following the action that the students make writing plan prior to writing, select the writing, revise the writing, use EYD (perfected spelling system), and are eager to practice writing more despite the absence of assignment from their teacher. Secondly, the application of contextual approach can improve the average scores of their writing from 64 to 75.41.
