    Abstract

    Pumma Purwani, 2009. Tectonic Earthquake Density Function Estimation in Java­Bali. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sebelas Maret University. The tectonic earthquake which was happened in Java­Bali would give a significant impact. The earthquake has a distribution function which describes earthquake characteristic. One of method to estimate distribution function is kernel nonparametric approach. The aims of this research are to find density function of magnitude and to find earthquake’s frequency every month. In order to determine the estimation density function, the data which used are magnitude 5.0­6.9 Rs with the depth ᆪ 70 km and frequency of earthquake every month. Based on discussion, the density function estimation of earthquake magnitude is   2 598 ^ i=1 1 1 1 = exp 166,479612 2 0,278394 2 i h x X f x  � �  � �  � � � � ¥ , the tectonic earthquakes happened in Java­Bali in 1964­2005 have magnitude estimation between 5.0­5.5 Rs. Density function estimator of frequency of earthquake every month is   2 504 ^ i=1 1 1 1 = exp 147,192824 2 0,288081 2 i h x X f x  � �  � �  � � � � ¥ . The tectonic earthquake every month happened in Java­Bali in 1964­2005 have frequency 0­26 times. Key words : density function, tectonic earthquake.
