    Abstract

    The simulation was used to determine the value of the NaI(Tl) and HPGe detector efficiency with dimension 1 "x 1" employing MCNP5 program. Gamma radiation comes from a point source of 137 Cs and 60 Co. The inputs needed for MCNP5 are detector geometry, source definition of radiation source or sample, and pulse count model. The results of simulation are used to compare the efficiency of both detectors, and the casing material effect on the efficiency of the detector. Distance source to each detector was varied from 1 to 5 cm. Next, analyzing the Compton Edge area of 137 Cs gamma spectrum and comparing them with experimental results. This experiments use a scintillation detector Nucleus Mode P-2000. Simulations results show that are in accordance with experimental results. Key words: efficiency, gamma spectroscopy, MCNP5
