    Abstract

    Anik Puji Lestari. IMPROVING THE SHORT STORY WRITING SKILL BY PICTURE AND PICTURE LEARNING MODEL AT 2nd GRADE STUDENT’S OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 01 JATEN KARANGANYAR, ACADEMIC YEAR 2011. Script. Surakarta. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, Mei 2011. Purpose of the classroom action research is to improve short story writing skill at students of 2nd grade in Elementary School 01 Jaten Karanganyar by picture and picture learning model. The subject of this classroom action research is 2nd grade students of Elementary School 01 Jaten Karanganyar, academic year 2010/2011 which consists of 39 students. Variable that are targeted to change in the research is improvement of student’s short story writing skills. Whereas variable to use in the research is teaching model picture and picture. The research is a classroom action research with 2 cycles. Every cycles consist of 4 phases, namely, planning, action, observation, and reflection. Variable data is collected by using interview, observation, tes and documentation. Data analisys consists of data reduction, data presentation, and data verivication or conclusion drawing. The data validity used is substance validityand data triangular. The technique of analysing data is interactive analysis. The result of this research shows the increase of average score and average of classica completeness in short story skill at students of 2nd grade in Elementary School 01 Jaten Karanganyar. The increased descriptive writing skill of the student’s could be seen from result of student’s test short story writing that indicated and increase, namely, in pre-action is 57,4 with classical completeness 41%, In the cycle 1, the average of classical score attains 59,7 and classical completeness increases to 59%. In the cycle II, , the average of classical score increases to 66,1 and and classical completeness increases to 79%. Based on research result above, it can be conclude that the use of picture and picture learning model can increase short story skill at students of 2nd grade in Elementary School 01 Jaten Karanganyar.
