    Abstract

    Electric welding was a metal joining process conducted by welding workshop. Recently, welding requires quite a lot of physical activity. This study was done on welding workshop "Mulyana" Sukoharjo which is one of the electric welding workshop. The welding was done manually with the position of the squat posture of preparing the hem, seam welding the beginning to the end of the welding seam. Postural position of the workers during the welding process is a posture position would potentially lead to pain in some segments of the operator's body. Based on the results of worker interview, the complaint known to occur in the soles of the feet, knees, waist, and back. Complaints are also available through the results of nordic body map (nbm) questionnaire analysis. The study begins with the identification of the welding process facility, worker posture position, the activity of working position, discomfort of the operator regarding the complaint and operators expectation to work attitude through analysis of nordic body map questionnaires and interviews, which is interpreted into the needs of the operator then. Thereafter, subsequent stage on the need for repair welding jig design plans, anthropometry operator position on the jig design, dimensional jig design of electric welding, the determination of material jig design of electric welding, the determination of planning, prototype specification, prototyping, modeling posture position on the appliance electrical of welding jig design, cost estimation, breakeven point investment of the prototype electric welding jig and worker position to the electrical welding jig design. The results is jig design of electric welding which has a mechanism of two field welding seam without flipping the work piece that positioned in accordance with the worker posture. Total cost is amount to Rp. 2.115.00,00. The jig is designed to improve worker posture position and assist in determining the point of welding.
