    Abstract

    The objective of research is to improve the orienting independency and mobility in learning to acquaint the school environtment using upper hand, lower hand and trailing in the First Grader of Blind Children in SDLB N Cangakan Karanganyar in the School Year of 2010/2011. This study belongs to a Clasroom Action Research involving an observation on the learning activity in the form of an action generated and occurring deliberately in a class collectively. This research is a collaboration or cooperation between the researcher, teacher, and student. The data source of research was the event of orientation and mobility learning process proceeding in the classroom with the informants (teacher and student), aswell as document. Techniques of collecting data used were observation, interview,and descriptive comparative analyses. The qualitative data was analyzed using critical analyzed descriptively and comparatively, by comparing the inter-cycles test values and the indicator of achievement. Considering the result of research, it can be concluded that the use of upper hand, lower hand and trailing techniques can improve the first grader of blind children’s independency in learning to acquaint the school environment in SDLB N Cangakan Karanganyar in the school year of 2010/2011.
