    Abstract

Dwi Murhayanto, S.4500001. Efficacy of Training of Medic and Paramedic to Increase Early Detection of Mental Disorders in Primary Health Care (Puskesmas) Sukoharjo. Thesis : Magister Kedokteran Keluarga of Sebelas Maret University. This study is aimed to know the efficacy of training of medic and paramedic to increase early detection of mental disorders in primary health care (Puskesmas). The catchment rate of mental disorders in primary health care of Sukoharjo just 0.11 % in 2004. The low of catchment rate of mental disorder is presumed by skills limitation of medic and paramedic to detect mental disorders in primary health care patients. This research is quasi experimental with randomised controlled group design in Sukoharjo. The sample is taken by using total sampling. Experimental group is trained with topic that based on “Metode Pendekatan Praktis Penanganan Gangguan Jiwa Puskesmas Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta” book, in 2 days. Pre-test is done before training and post-test is done after training. In control group, pre-test and post-test is done too. The efficacy evaluation by analyse pretest and post-test score, and new case finding of mental disorders in 3 month period after training. Statistical analysis is done with t-test and U Mann-Whitney. 17 Having analysed the data, it is known that there is no significance difference of pre-test mean score between two study group (t = 0, 149; p = 0,883), but there is significance difference of post-test mean score between two study group (t = 9,613; p = 0.000). The number of new case finding (early detection) of mental disorders in experimental group is more significance than control group (Mann-Whitney Z= -2.54; p=0.040). Conclusion of this study, training of diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders in medic and paramedic of primary health care are effective to increase the knowledge of mental disorders of physician and nurse and early detection of mental disorders in primary health care of Sukoharjo.
