    Abstract

    Objective: To examine the effect of red pomeganate (Punica ganatum) peel extract with erythrocyte count and hemoglobin level rats exposed to mobile phone electromagnetic radiation. Methode: This study was a laboratory experimental post test only control goup design. The subjects used were 32 male rats divided into 4 goups: (1) Control goup; (2) Exposed mobile phone electromagnetic radiation goup; (3) Exposed mobile phone electromagnetic radiation goup with red pomeganate peel extract pre and during exposed; (4) Exposed mobile phone electromagnetic radiation goup with red pomeganate peel extract pre, during, and post exposed. After 41 days, blood was collected in clean tube with EDTA from orbitalis sinus rats. Blood used for erythrocyte count and hemoglobin level in Patology Clinic Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine Sebelas Maret University. The data obtained were statistic analyzed by independent t test using SPSS Progamme for Microsoft Windows release 16.0. Significance was set at p<0,05. Result: Erythrocyte count of goup (1) 695,38±38,311;(2)627,00±42,393; (3)661,00±63,833; (4)673,57±42,035. Hemoglobin level of goup (1) 12,425 ± 0,446;(2) 11,600 ± 0,489;(3) 11,857 ± 0,378; (4) 11,914 ± 0,598. Statistical analyses with independent t test showed that the result was significance between goup (1) an (2), but not significance for the other goup. Conclusion: The experiment result showed that red pomeganat peel extract can increase the erythrocyte count and hemoglobin level rats exposed to mobile phone electromagnetic radiation but statistically insignificance (p>0,05).
