    Abstract

    The purpose of this research is to get effective speed for flexible shaft balancing. Balancing is done for two plane shaft-disc system (two-plane balancing) with vector analytical method apply gauging a phase difference of vibration response, at five variable speed: 600 rpm, 800 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1200 rpm, and 1400 rpm. Intake of data by doing gauging vibration amplitude of horizontal direction at both bearing housing, and also gauging a phase difference which record result of DSO (Digital Storage Oscilloscope) module, between trigger signals and vibration signals constructively Matlab programs. Amplitude and phase difference of vibration response, applied to determine a counter unbalance and the mounting, apply vector analytical method. Result balancing then turned around an other speeds to know effectivity balancing which have been done to transformation of speed. Research result indicate that balancing process which done can reduce vibration between 51,22% up to 91,04%, this thing indicate that balancing which done under critical speed I of shaft-disc (shaft-rotor) is effective. Besides, balancing which done at a speed which far from critical speed of system is relatively effective. While balancing which done at a speed which close to critical speed of system is relatively not be effective. Balancing which done among I-II and II-III critical speed of system, have excellence compared by balancing which done at working speed if evaluated from the angle of security when balancing process done.
