    Abstract

    Elisa Gunawan, G.0007192, 2011. Larvicidal Potentiation Activity of Combination of Ocimum sanctum Linn Leaves and Ricinus communis Linn Seeds Extracts Against Aedes aegypti. Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Objectives: This research was conducted to know the larvicidal potentiation effect of combination of Ocimum sanctum Linn leaves and Ricinus communis Linn seeds extracts against Aedes aegypti. Method: This research used laboratory experimental method with the post test only group design. The subject were earlier 4th instar Aedes aegypti larvae. This research used three kinds of extracts. They were Ocimum sanctum leaves extract, Ricinus communis seeds extract, and the combination of two extracts. There were three treatment groups according to the kinds of extracts. Each treatment group consisted of 6 concentrations : 0%; 1,0%; 1,4%; 1,8%; 2,2%; and 2,6%. The samples taken with purposive sampling technique. The sum of the samples were 20 larvae each concentration of each treatment group. Larvicidal potentiation effect were measured from larvae death amount because of treatment. Data which is gained, is analized using One Way ANOVA on significance level = 0,05 and continued by LSD. Lethal Concentration value were analized by Probit. Results: The result of analysis Probit of Ocimum sanctum leaves extract were LC50 = 0,927 %; the result of analysis Probit of Ricinus communis seeds extract were LC50 = 1,217 %; and the result of analysis Probit of combination of Ocimum sanctum leaves and Ricinus communis extracts with the equal quantity (1:1) were LC50 = 1,031%. Conclusions: Combination of Ocimum sanctum leaves and Ricinus communis extracts did not have potentiation effect because the lethal effect of the combination effect of the two extracts (with the equal quantity) were not differ with the effect of each singular component and less than Ocimum sanctum leaves (LC50 0,927 %) but higher than Ricinus communis seeds (LC50 1,217 %).
