    Abstract

    Insomnia is a sleep disorder which is most often complained as it affects the sufferer’s work performance, social activity, and health. Insomnia is not a disease, but can be a signal that one encounters a psychological or unfit physical problem. It is not possibly brought about by one factor but many factors such as fragile psychological conditions, unfit physical conditions, unhealthy environmental conditions, and bad habits prior to sleeping. The objective of the research is to investigate the correlation of the internet addition and the anxiety to the insomnia of the Bachelor students of the Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University. The subjects of the research were the students of the Study Program of Medicine, the Class of 2007 of the Faculty of Medicine. The population was all of the 214 students. The samples of the research were 53 students and were taken by using the combined sampling techniques of purposive sampling and incidental sampling. The criteria of the former sampling technique were as follows: the subjects were the Bachelor students of Sebelas Maret University, were aged 18-21 years old, and were doing their skripsi (final project). The criterion of the latter sampling technique was whoever fulfilled the criteria of the former. The data of the research were gathered by using questionnaire of insomnia scale adapted from Insomnia Scale standardized by KSPBJ, adapted Internet Addiction Test (IAT), and anxiety scale. The data were then analyzed by using a multiple linear regression analysis with two predictors. The result of the research shows that the value of F-test is 20.784, where p is smaller than 0.05, and the value o R is 0.674. Based on the result of the statistical analysis, a conclusion is drawn that the proposed hypothesis of the research is verified that there is a significant correlation of the internet addiction and the anxiety to the insomnia of the Bachelor students of the Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University. The value of R2 is 0.454 (45.4%), the Effective Contribution of the internet addiction to the insomnia is 36.526%, and that of the anxiety to the insomnia is 8.874%. The relative contribution of the internet addiction to the insomnia is 80.45%, and that of the anxiety to the insomnia is 19.55%. Keywords: Internet addiction, anxiety, and insomnia
