    Abstract

    SUMMARY Feri Asri. H 0206044. Influence of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers Balance on Methane Emissions (CH4) in Paddy Fields Palur. This research is under guidance of Ir. Jauhari Syamsiah, MS; Ir. Sumani, Msi., and Mujiyo, S.P., M.P. Soil Science Majors, Agriculture Faculty, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. The purpose of this research is to find out how much emissions of CH4 in paddy fields that treated with various combinations of organic and inorganic fertilizers. This research was conducted from June to September 2009. This research is a field experiment using the complete block randomized experimental design with 2 factors, inorganic fertilizer and organic fertilizer. Inorganic fertilizer factor consists of 3 levels, that is: A0 (without inorganic fertilizer), A1 (urea 150 kg/ ha, SP-36 75 kg/ ha, KCl 100 kg/. Ha, and ZA 50 kg/ ha), and A2 (urea 300 kg/ ha, SP-36 150 kg/ ha, KCl 100 kg/ ha, and ZA 100 kg/ ha). While the organic fertilizer factor consists of 3 levels, that is: O0 (without organic fertilizer), O1 (organic fertilizer 1 ton/ ha), and O2 (organic fertilizer 2 ton/ ha). CH4 gas sampling in wetland done 3 times in one growing season that is when rice plants on 25, 50, and 80 days old. Variable measured consists of : soil characteristic (pH, organic matter, and redox potential), methane emissions (25,50,80 days after planting, to get the one season emissions), and the productions of rice plant (number of productive tillers, 1000 grain weight, dry grain milled weight, and milled harvest weight). Data analysis using Variant test at level 5% (if data is normal) and Kruskal Wallis (if data is not normal), level 5% DMRT test and correlation test. Variant test showed that the treatment did not significantly effect the total emissions of methane in one growing season. There are fluctuations in CH4 emission from the age of 25, 50, and 80 days after transplanting. Organic and anorganic fertilizer significantly effect production and growth of rice plants (number of productive tillers, 1000 grain weight, dry grain milled weight, and milled harvest weight). There is a real positive correlations beetwen CH4 emissions with soil organic matter (r=0,059*) after 25 days planting, after 50 days planting there is a real negative correlation beetwen CH4 emisison with Eh (r=0,182*), and after 80 days planting there is a real positive correlation beetwen CH4 emisison with pH (r=0,112*). CH4 emission during one season planting actually make positive correlation with total tillers (r=233*). Key words: methane emission, organic fertilizers, inorganic fertilizers,
