    Abstract

    The aim of the research is to find out the application of Instructional Cooperative Learning Jigsaw Model as an effort to improve activity and achievement student on maintenance/service engine and its parts lesson. The research was conducted at XII grade of Mechanic Automotive 4 of the Automotive Engineering Mechanic Program SMK(Vocational School ) Nasional Berbah, Tanjungtirto Village, Kalitirto Subdistrict, Berbah District, Sleman Regency, D.I. Yogyakarta Provincy, in the training academic year of 2009/2010. This research is a Class Room Action Research which is given priority of process learning. There is no sample in this research, because all population of 30 students XIIMO4 grade as subject of research. The teacher observation sheet as instrumen to find the earlier data before action research. The teacher observation sheet during action research and student activity observation sheet are used for finding the teacher and student learning activity data during action research proces. Item of test are instruments to find students achievement after class discussion activity at the end of each action cycle. The result of the class action have conclude that by applicating the Instructional Cooperative Learning Jigsaw Model the student of XIIMO4 grade activity at the maintenance/service engine and its parts be increased. In fact the mean score of student learning activity at the second cycle action have increased 4.23 % from the first cycle action. At the third cycle action the mean score discussion activity have increased 5.07% if we compare with the mean score student discussion activity at the second cycle action . By applicating of Instructional Cooperative Learning Jigsaw Model the students achievement of XIIMO4 grade, SMK Nasional Berbah at the lesson of maintenance/service engine and its parts have increased. In fact the mean score of student test at the first cylcle is 7.43 and at the second cycle increase to be 7.47 and at the third cycle increase to be 7.90. This research have concluded that by using application of Instructional Cooperative Learning Jigsaw the student learning activity and student learning achievement will be increased. That means that to increase the student learning activity and student learning achievement we can use Instructional Cooperative learning Jigsaw application.
