    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Rizqi Anisa Luthfiyah. TEACHINGS MATERIAL BOOK DEVELOPMENT OF SOLID FIGURE (CUBE, CUBOIDS, PRISM AND PYRAMID) TO IMPROVE HIGH ORDER THINKING SKILLS (HOTS) FOR GRADE VIII OF SMP NEGERI 4 SURAKARTA OF IN THE 2018/2019 SCHOOL YEAR. Thesis, Mathematics Education of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Sebelas Maret University. July 2019. This research is aimed to find out process and results of teachings material book development of solid figure (cube, cuboids, prism and pyramid) to improve high order thinking skills (HOTS) for grade VIII of SMP Negeri 4 Surakarta in the 2018/2019 school year. This research is also aimed to find out the effectiveness of learning using material book developed. The research is Research and Development (R&D). Model development design used modified 4D. Steps of 4D research is define – design – develop – disseminate. Preliminay analysis, student analysis, material analysis, task analysis, and specification of purpose of learning belong to the define phase. The results in the define phase become a criterion for designing teachings material book in the design phase. To get a valid product (teachings material book development), questionnaire is constructed at the expert validation to retrieve data in the form of product validity score along with comment and suggestion for revising the product (this is develop phase). To identify whether or not the product is pratical to be used in learning process, questionnaire is constructed to retrieve data in the form of students’ response toward the product. To identify whether or not the product is effective use test of students’ achievement. The results of the research shows that the quality of the product is good seen from the validity, praticality, and also effectiveness. Acquisition of score for the content of the second component feasibility matter experts is 79,04%. Acquisition value for the presentation of the feasibility component is 87,85%. Acquisition of score for the HOTS and Polya’s Technique is 76,66%. Acquisition of score from student questionnaire responses in the presentation aspect is 96% and in the aspect of material presentation is 83,33%. The result of product effectiveness testing shows that teachings material book been developped to improve high order thinking skills is proven to be effective.
