    Abstract

    Communication skills and mathematical connections need to be trained in students at every level of education. Communication skills are very necessary to sort and describe the construction of solutions resulting from analysis or logical elaboration of mathematical problems that arise. Important connection ability is possessed by students so that they are able to connect between material one with the other material. This study aims to: 1) describe the mathematical communication skills of class XI studentsof SMA Negeri 1 Mojolaban who have different personality types in solving questions; 2) describe the mathematical connection ability of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Mojolaban who have different personality types in solving questions. This research is a qualitative research, with the subject of research consisting of 6 students of class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Mojolaban. The selection of research subjects use purposive sampling. The research subjects were selected based on the results of personality tests using personality questionnaires. The method of data collection in this study is the method of tests and interviews. Data validation was done by triangulation method. The results showed that: 1) mathematical communication skills possessed by students who have extrovert personality tend to be able to analyze and write information in the problem, can construct conjectures, arguments or formulate definitions of generalization, and can express a mathematical sentence into its own language and mathematical communication skills possessed by students who have introverted personalities tend to be able to analyze and write down the information in the questions indicated by being able to write known information and be able to make examples or symbols and arrange conjectures, arguments or formulate definitions of generalization. 2) mathematical connection ability by students who have extrovert personality tend to be able to use concept ideas, processes and use connections between existing ideas and mathematical connection skills possessed by introverted students tend to understand the interrelationships of existing ideas and be able to apply them in the other field.
