    Abstract

    Hesti Khasyanah Putri. INCREASING THE ABILITY OF CAPITAL LETTER USE AND PUNCTUATION IN WRITING SIMPLE ESSAYS THROUGH THE COOPERATIVE TYPE OF THINK TALK WRITE (TTW) LEARNING MODEL (Classroom Action Research at the Third Grade Students of SD N Pajang II No. 171 Surakarta at 2018/2019 Academic Year). Skripsi, Teacher Training and Educational Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. April 2019. The purpose of this research was to (1) improve the ability to use capital letters and punctuation in writing simple essays on third grade students of SD N Pajang II Surakarta in the 2018/2019 academic year, and (2) describe the implementation of the Think Talk Write (TTW) type of cooperative learning model which can increase the ability to use capital letters and punctuation in grade III students of SD N Pajang II Surakarta in the 2018/2019 academic year. Classroom Action Research is carried out in two cycles with two meetings for each cycle. The subjects of this research were teachers and class third grade students of SD N Pajang II Surakarta in the 2018/2019 academic year consisting of 27 students. Data collection techniques for this research consisting of interviews, observation, tests, and document analysis. Quantitative data analysis using descriptive comparative techniques, and qualitative data analysis using the Miles and Huberman models consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validity test technique uses source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of this research indicate an increase in the ability to use capital letters and punctuation in writing simple essays on third grade students of SD N Pajang II Surakarta in the 2018/2019 academic year through the Think Talk Write (TTW) type learning model. It can be seen from the results of the classical completeness of the action of 18.52% with the average grade of 45.56 increasing in the first cycle with classical completeness of 66.66% with the class average value of 71.11. In the second cycle, the classical completeness of third grade students again increased by 88.89% with an average grade of 85.74. Based on the results described above, it can be concluded that the ability to use capital letters and punctuation in writing simple essays on third grade students of SD N Pajang II Surakarta in the 2018/2019 academic year can be improved through the Think Talk Write (TTW) type cooperative learning model.
