    Abstract

    The purpose of this research to improve student learning achievement about history lesson and the history awareness at X IPS I SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali by I,mplementing inquiry model with contextual approach. This study using a classroom action research method (CAR) during two cycles, which is each cycle consists of observing, planning, acting, and also reflecting. The subject of this study is student of X IPS I SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali. Sources of data for this study is from teachers, students, document, and learning process. Techniques of data collection are conducted using observation, test, survey, document, and interview. This study uses technique triangulation data and triangulation method to analize results of this study. Results of the study show that: 1) implementation of inquiry with contextual approach can improve students’ learning achievement of X IPS I grade of SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali. Results of students’ learning achievement through pre-cycles show that 12 students or 41% passed the target, then increase into 18 students or 62% in cycle I, and through cycle II increase into 23 students or 79%. This result has exceeded target of the study which is 75%. 2) implementation of inquiry with contextual approach can improve history awareness of students’ X IPS I grade of SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali. Results of history awareness students’ show about class average through pre-cycle is 65,24%, then increase 6% into 71,31% through cycle I, and in cycle II increase 6,48% into 77,79%. This result has exceeded target of the study which is 75%. Based results of this study, it can be concluded that teaching process of history by implementing inquiry with contextual approach can improve learning achievement and history awareness at X IPS I grade of SMA Negeri 2 Boyolali in academic year 2017/2018.
