    Abstract

    This study aims at developing a learning animation video media using the Powtoon to increase learning motivation in social study subject. This study used a research and development (R & D) method. The procedures in developing the learning video media were conducted through 1) The preliminary stage includes: literature study, interviews, observation, and data triangulation, 2) The development phase includes pre-production, production, and post-production, and 3) Evaluation phase. At this stage, test was applied to determine the effectiveness of video media that has been developed against student learning motivation in social study subject.The developed learning animation video media obtained a feasibility score for experts and students assessment of 4.23 with a very good category. Therefore, it is feasible to be used in the learning process. The results of this research show that: 1) there is a significant difference in the value of learning outcomes between the control class and the experimental class with the sig value. 0.002 and 2) there is a significant difference in the value of learning motivation between the control class and the experimental class with the sig value. 0.000. Based on the results of the effectiveness test, it can be concluded that the use of this Powtoon-based video learning media can significantly improve learning outcomes and learning motivation.
