    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Teguh Rahayu. The Development of Thematic Teaching Materials based on Local Excellence of Kebumen District on Theme Learning 6 of Sub-theme 2 in Grade IV Students in Academic Year 2018/2019. This study aimed: 1) to describe the process of developing local excellence-based thematic teaching materials in Kebumen Regency, 2) to analyze the feasibility of local excellence-based thematic teaching materials in Kebumen Regency, 3) to test the effectiveness of local excellence-based thematic teaching materials in Kebumen Regency. This study used Research and Development (RnD) type. The development model used was Borg & Gall (1989) model which was simplified into 5 steps, including 1) research and information gathering; 2) planning; 3) development of the initial product format; 4) expert test and product revision; and 5) field testing. This research was conducted in fourth grade students of SD Negeri 4 Pejagoan with the teacher as the subject of field testing and 21 students consisting of 10 male students and 11 female students as the target of field test subjects. The types of data used were quantitative and qualitative data. The instruments of data collection used were interviews, observations, questionnaires, and test (pre-test and post-test). The data analysis technique used in this study was descriptive analysis, analysis prerequisite test (normality test and homogeneity test), and effectiveness test of teaching materials (t-test and effect size). The results of the study indicated that: 1) the process of developing teaching materials through several stages, namely initial information collection, planning, development of the initial product format, expert testing and product revision, and field testing; 2) the feasibility of teaching materials through criticism, suggestions, and comments from experts, statements of the feasibility of teaching materials from the validator, and comments from teachers and students indicated that the teaching materials developed were suitable to be applied in learning, and facilitate students in understanding material. It is in line with the results of the assessment through questionnaires, namely material experts at 3.56 with good criteria, media experts 3.68 with good criteria, and readability of teaching materials from teachers 4.11 with very good criteria, and readability of teaching materials from students 4.21 with very good criteria; 3) Local excellence-based thematic teaching material Kebumen Regency was effective for use in learning. This can be seen from the results of t-test calculations was tcount (8.4288)> t table (2.086) and the value of calculation of effect size was 2.11. The conclusion of this study is that the development process was carried out in a structured and directed manner. The teaching material produced has been tested for its feasibility, and instructional materials developed effectively for use in learning.
