    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Indra Ratna Dewi (K3114025). “THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE STUDENTS MOTIVATION on grade XI STUDENT OF SMK PGRI 1 SURAKARTA”. Thesis, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University. January 2019. The aim of this research was to examine the effectiveness of Motivational Interviewing techniques to improve the learning motivation on grade XI student of SMK PGRI 1 SURAKARTA. This research was a Quasi Experimental Design study with Non Equivalent Control Group Design which consists of experimental groups and control groups. The research subjects of each experimental group and control group were seven students who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The instrument of collecting data uses a learning motivation questionnaire. Data analysis used Mann Whitney with the help of SPSS 20. Based on the results of the analyse using Mann-Whitney Test it is known there are differences in posttest scores between the two groups because of the asymp value. sig (2-tailed) of 0.002 <0.05. Accordingly, it can be seen that there is a difference be from the result of score posttest learning motivation between the experimental group and the control group. This difference occurs because there is a treatment for the experimental group in the form of motivational interviewing techniques. The conclusions that can be accepted from the results of the analysis are motivational interviewing techniques effective to improve the learning motivation on grade XI students of SMK PGRI 1 SURAKARTA.
