    Abstract

The development of macroeconomic indicators is inseparable from the development of stock prices. Several studies on the relationship between macroeconomics and stock prices have been carried out by Jamaludin, et al. (2017), Ho (2011), and Miseman, et al. (2013).This study aims to analyze the effect of macroeconomic factors such as economic growth, exchange rates, broad money growth and the Dow Jones Industrial Average on stock indices in ASEAN-5 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand) by utilizing quarterly data over the period of 2008 -2017. The data used in the study are secondary data obtained from the International Monetry Fund, Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg, Stooq. Applying the GLS Fixed Effects estimation panel data regression. The results of the study concluded that economic growth and Dow Jones Industrial Average are significant affecting stock indices in ASEAN-5, while the money supply and exchange rate do not have significant effect on the stock indices ASEAN-5. The central bank is expected to be able to intervene in the stock market through monetary policy
