    Abstract

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SOCIODRAMA TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’S INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION AND SELF-CONFIDENCE OF MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT GRADE 1 SMA NEGERI 1 CILACAP YEAR OF STUDY 2018/2019. Thesis, Surakarta: Faculty of Education, Sebelas Maret University. December 2018. This study aimed to test effectivity of sociodrama technique to improve student’s interpersonal communication and self-confidence of Mathematics And Natural Science Department grade 1 SMA Negeri 1 Cilacap year of study 2018/2019. This study was Quasi Exprimental Design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design consists of the experimental group and the control group. Subjects numbered 64 students were selected using purposive sampling technique which is divided into 32 students as an experimental group and 32 students as a control group. The data collection technique used interpersonal communication questionnaire and self-confidence questionnaire. Analysis of data was Mann Whitney test by using of IBM SPSS Statistics version 20 and Descriptive Analysis Techniques. Based on the analysis using the Mann Whitney test showed significant value for interpersonal communication by 0.02 <0.05 and significant value for the self-confidence of 0.03 <0.05. Thus, it is known that there were differences between the experimental group with the control group after treatment given in the experimental group. Treatment form sociodrama technique to improve students’s interpersonal communication and self-confidence. Based on the results of the descriptive analysis showed that gain score of self-confidence was 261 higher than the gain score of interpersonal communication is 242. Thus, it can be said that sociodrama technique give a larger change in students’s self-confidence rather than students’s interpersonal communication. The conclusion of this study is sociodrama technique is effective to improve students’s interpersonal communication and self-confidence of Mathematics And Natural Science Department grade 1 SMA Negeri 1 Cilacap year of study 2018/2019, as well as sociodrama technique is more effective to boost students’s self-confidence compared with students’s interpersonal communication of Mathematics And Natural Science Department grade 1 SMA Negeri 1 Cilacap year of study 2018/2019.
