    Abstract

The Influence of the Learning Method of Word Square in Social Studies Learning of Children with mild mental retardation.in grade V SDLB B-C YPAALB Langenharjo Sukoharjo Academic Year 2018/2019. Skripsi Surakarta: Faculty Teacher Training and Education Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, December 2018. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the word square learning method on the school performance of children with mild mental retardation in grade V SDLB B-C YPAALB Langenharjo Sukoharjo academic year 2018-2019. This study uses a quantitative approach with the experimental research method of the pre-experience type in the form of a pre-test post-test group project. The subjects in this study were children with mild mental retardation in grade V, in the academic year 2018/2019, up to 6 children. The instrument validity test technique in this study uses the type of content validity, and the research instrument reliability measurement technique uses the reliability of the results of the type of inter-rater reliability rating. Data collection techniques in this study were objective tests in the form of multiple choice questions and short answers. The data analysis technique used in this study was the nonparametric analysis, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, using the SPSS program 23. The results showed that the mean value before using the word squares learning method was 48.33, while the mean value after using the word squares learning method was 70.83. The increase in the mean value in the post-test stage shows a difference in the conditions before and after treatment. The count amount Z = -2.214 with Asymp. Sig. (Bicaudal) = 0.027 at a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05). Based on the results of these studies, it can be concluded that the square learning method is effective in increasing the social studies that allow the learning of children with mild mental retardation in degree V 201.
