    Abstract

Chaerul Novitasari. S831608010. DEVELOPMENT OF ASSESMENT FOR LEARNING (AfL) FOR DETECT STUDENT’S MISCONCEPTION AND STUDENT’S CONSTRUCTION CONCEPT ON BACTERIAL CONCEPT. Thesis. Supervisor: Murni Ramli, S.P., M.Si., Ed.D. Co-supervisor: Puguh Karyanto, S.Si., M.Si., Ph. D. The research aimed to identify profile of student’s misconception on Bacterial concept, identify profile of student’s construction on Bacterial concept, and identify the characteristics of Asessment for Learning (AfL) for detecting student’s misconception. This research was a develompment based on Design Based Research (DBR) conducted on 4 phases. Phases of Design Based Research (DBR) are analysis of practical problems by researchers and practitioners in collaboration, development of solutions informed by existing design principles and technological innovations, iterative cycles of testing refinement of solutions in practice, and reflection to produce “design principles” and enhance solution implementation. Product conducted in this AfL research was AfL on bacterial concept of level X. AfL was validated by 9 biology teachers (members of biology discussion forum in Sragen) and experts. Misconceptions of analysis was conducted on 103 Sragen’s high school students. Data analysis were qualitative analysis of question and descriptive statistics analysis. Based on result of the reseach, the conclution was 1) student who have experienced misconception on bacterial concepts such as the characteristics of bacteria and the structure of bacterial body is 31,07%, concept of bacteria as prokaryotic organism is 9,71%, classification of bacteria is 9,71%, classification of archaebacterial is 21,36%, bacterial forms is 42,48%, classification bacteria based on Gram Stain is 39,81%, and the role of Gram stain bacterial classification is 14,24%; 2) Result of student’s construction was thinking process of many students conducted through assimilation. Assimilation is integration of new perception, concept, and experience to scheme or pattern on their thinking, and 3) Development of AfL consist of two types of test, such as 6 diagnostic proven facts and 1 Structural Communication Grid (SCG) test. The characteristic of AfL are case test of bacteria completed structured essay and column choices of bacterial concept chosen by students then arranged by the right concept. Key words : Assesment for learning (AfL), misconception, construction concept
