    Abstract

    Corpus research provides many benefits in the field of linguistics. Corpora composition research aims to describe and explain the frequency of word types, the differences in word types and collocations in Indonesian Language Books for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) Sahabatku Indonesia (SI) and Keren! Indonesian Course Book (KICB). The frequency of word types describes the percentage of nouns, verbs, adjectives and other words (verbs and adverbs). Different word type presentations describe the percentage range of each word type, word distribution plot and concordance. On one hand, the collocation describes the type of collocation on SI and KICB Books. This research is a descriptive qualitative with a case study strategy. The research data were in the form of all words obtained from the word list produced by Wordsmith Software Version 7 while the data sources were from BIPA SI and KICB Books. The data were collected using literature review and documents in the form of txt files. The validity of the data in this research used triangulations of source and theory. The use of the Great Dictionary of Indonesian Language (KBBI) and the Synonym Dictionary Thesaurus makes it easy to classify word types and find Indonesian collocations. Meanwhile, the corpus data analysis technique in this research used content analysis which includes three components, namely data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results showed the percentage of each type of nouns was 48.76%, verbs was 22.44%, adjectives was 4.07% and other words (function words and adverbs) was 24.73% in SI Book. The percentage for nouns is 40.93%, verbs 19.04, adjectives 7.35% and other words (function words and adverbs) 32.68% in KICB Book. Then, in terms of differences in the types of words, the range of the percentage of low frequency words is 0%, both in the BIPA SI and KICB Books, while the medium and high frequency word ranges have varying percentages for BIPA SI and KICB Books respectively. The Indonesian language collocations from the results of the analysis have more diverse patterns than the theory presented by previous experts. BIPA Book Authors should take into account the percentage portion of each type of word so that the target language acquisition of foreign students is balanced and the provision of separate collocation materials in textbooks also needs to be considered.
