    Abstract

    Background : The prevalence of anemia among girls of 10-18 years reaches 57.1%. In Kabupaten Sukoharjo, anemia was found at school age of 26.5%. Girls suffering anemia risk 10 times compared with boys. Factors causing anemia of girls one of them is iron deficiency. To overcome the incidence of anemia, it consumes iron supplementation. In addition to iron supplementation, it needs nutrients that can increase the absorption and one of them is vitamin C. Guava is known as a fruit containing high vitamin C which is two to four times compared to oranges. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of iron supplementation and red guava juice to changes in hemoglobin levels for girls suffering anemia. Methods: There were 66 young female students of anemia aged 13-15 years who participated in the study. Subjects were divided into four treatment groups, namely treatment group 1 (KP 1) supplementation of Fe + guava juice 200ml, treatment group 2 (KP 2) iron supplementation + guava juice 100ml, treatment group 3 (KP 3) and control group (KK) were only Fe supplementation. The number of each group was also different i.e. KP 1 there were 17 subjects, KP 2 there were 19 subjects, KP 3 there were 14 subjects, and KK there were 16 subjects. The study lasted for 8 weeks and was given 2x in a week. This study was conducted at SMP N 2 Grogol, SMP N 3 Grogol, MTs Muhammadiyah Grogol, and MTs Al-Mukmin Ngruki Sukoharjo. Data analysis with normality test using kolmogorov smirnov, paired simple t-test, one way anova, and regresi linear. Results: There were significant differences in mean Hb levels after treatment in each group, KP 1 (11.7 ± 0.49 g / dL), KP 2 (12.2 ± 0.44 g / dL), KP 3 (12, 1 ± 0.33 g / dL), and KK (12.1 ± 0.43 g / dL) with each value group p<0.001. Normally distributed data p> 0.05. There is difference of influence of treatment type given to hemoglobin level of girls suffering anemia with significant value p = 0.025 (p <0.05). Conclusion: Provision of iron supplementation and guava juice affect the changes of Hb levels for anemia girls.
