    Abstract

    Designing Tourism Promotion for Selo District as a Natural and Cultural Tourism Destination in Boyolali Regency Yosia Enggar Kurniawan4 Drs. Mohamad Suharto, M.Sn.5 Sayid Mataram, S.Sn., M.Sn.6 ABSTRACT Yosia Enggar Kurniawan, 2018. An introduction to the work of Final Project entitled "Designing Tourism Promotion for Selo District as a Natural and Cultural Tourism Destination in Boyolali Regency". The problems examined by the writer are: (1) How to choose a suitable promotion strategy for tourism in Selo Boyolali District to attract the attention of the public to increase the number of tourists visit in Selo District? (2) How to design an appropriate, effective, creative and communicative promotional media to promote tourism in Selo Boyolali District as the implementation of a widely chosen promotion strategy to increase the number of tourists visit Selo Sub-District? Selo is one of the subdistricts in Boyolali Regency which holds extraordinary natural beauty, because it is located between Mount Merbabu and Mount Merapi. In addition to having a beautiful natural panorama, Selo has a wealth of cultural heritage in the form of traditional dances and rituals that are preserved by the community. Even though there are many tourism attractions with the theme of natural scenery suitable for refreshing and taking pictures, the existence of tourism objects in Selo Subdistrict is still unknown to the wider community in Central Java, especially Surakarta Residency due to lack of promotion by related managers and agencies. This research used descriptive qualitative research method where the data sources are obtained from interviews, observation, marketing analysis of the AISAS model and documentation. The creative strategy in this design is to design an effective and attractive promotion strategy to be applied to various visual communication media that are appropriate to the target audience. The main media in this design consist of posters, brochures, billboards, and social media. Supporting media in the form of various merchandises such as tote bags, key chains, pins, shirts, stickers, mugs, and hats. By having a promotional strategy through the main media and supporting media that are appropriate, creative, and efficient, it is expected that the presence of tourism in Selo can be recognized by a wider audience.
