    Abstract

    FITROH. K3113027. THE DEVELOPMENT MANUAL OF EXPRESSING FEELINGS APPROPRIATELY USING ASSERTIVE TRAINING TECHNIQUES FOR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS. Thesis, Surakarta: Faculty of Teacher and Education Training of Universitas Sebelas Maret. Surakarta, August 2018. The aims of this study were to (1) describe preliminary study results on the level of need and interest towards the development of skills to express feelings appropriately (2) describe the result of literature study about the skills of expressing feelings appropriately using assertive training techniques on vocational school students (3) produce a prototype-1 of manual of expressing feelings appropriately using assertive training techniques on vocational students which is ready to be tested for validity, practicality and effectiveness. The study used research and development with the design combination created by Borg & Gall, Nieveen, and Akker. This study developed of prototype-1 that was up to the third curriculum representation which is perceived curriculum that is ready to be tested for validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Preliminary study was carried out by giving questionnaires level of needs and interests related to the guidance services of vocational high school students. Based on the preliminary study the development of expressing feelings appropriately showed a high result that 46.64% of the 1485 respondents claimed to be highly in need and 47.07% of the 1498 respondents claimed to be in need as well as and 46.15% of the 1469 respondents claimed that was very important and 47, 19% of the 1502 respondents claimed that it was important to improve the skill of expressing feelings appropriately. Results of the study were Manual of Expressing Feelings Appropriately using Assertive Training Techniques for Vocational High School Students and Students Worksheets as a tool to train students to express their feelings appropriately. The manual contained a guidance counseling curriculum completed by counseling services plan (RPL). Counseling services was divided into four sessions with the time allocation 45 minute for each session. The first session, an understanding of assertiveness. The second session, understanding how to express themselves through discussion activities. The third session, the development of assertive behavior through role playing activities to learn new behavior. Fourth session, evaluation of behaviors that have been tested / practiced. Guidelines and worksheets of learners were still a prototype-1 that needs to be tested for validity, practicality and effectiveness, therefore it was expected for further researchers to follow up the product.
