    Abstract

    Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) is a technology that uses reflective mirrors that focuses sunlight onto a receiving part. The receiver converts sunlight into heat energy. This study discusses the Parabolic Trough Collector (PTC) heat collector system. The Parabolic design has a length of 1.5m, 0.5m wide aperture and the copper absorber tube with a 0.5 inch diameter. There are two PTC system. PTC1 uses aluminum sheet reflector material while PTC2 uses aluminum solar concentrator. The method used is an experimental research. This research was tanted at 11.00 am - 14.00 pm in bright weather conditions with the sun intensity values above 700 W / m2. The mass fluid flow rate at rate of 0.25 L/min. The test results showed that the highest temperature coming out of PTC1 is 46.4 oC at an intensity of 811.33 W/m2 resulting in a system efficiency of 45.67%. While at PTC2 the highest temperature produced is 41.7 oC at an intensity of 882.43 W/m2 resulting in a system efficiency of 30.36%. An aluminum sheet reflector is better than aluminum solar concentrator. Keywords: Concentrated solar power, efficiency, parabolic trough collector, reflector
