    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Petrus Hari Prasetyo, 2006. Determination of Cr Metal Ionic in Reactor Tank Water Using UV-VIS Spectrofotometry Method. Thesis. Department of Chemistry, Mathematic and Science Faculty. Sebelas Maret University. Determination of Cr metal ionic in Kartini Reactor Tank Water (RTW) Yogyakarta using UV-VIS spectrofotometry method had been done. The purposes of this research were to determine the optimum condition of modified APHA 3500-Cr method, to determine RTW Kartini Cr (VI) concentration, and to know that the modified APHA 3500-Cr method was more effective than standard method of APHA 3500-Cr and ASTM D 1687-92. Standard method of Cr (VI) metal ionic determination in water choosed by spectrofotometry method ASTM D 1687-92 and APHA 3500-Cr, without changed the certain condition. Modification of APHA 3500-Cr method was also used by changing the H3PO4 dan H2SO4 concentration, then optimation of maximum wavelength (λmax), complex stability time (tcs), pH, and complexing reagent volume (vcom), had been done to confirm a better detection limit. The result of research showed that the optimum condition of the original method APHA 3500-Cr and the modified method was reached at λmax 540 and 542 nm, tcs 5-10 minutes and 5 minutes, pH 1,6-2,2 and 2,0 , vcom 2,0 mL and 1,5 mL. The Cr(VI) result analysis using ASTM D 1687-92, APHA 3500-Cr and the modified method gave Cr(VI) concentration in RTW were 4,8771 ppb, 4,7778 ppb, and 5,0975 ppb. ANOVA test result showed that the effective of three method was the same. The result showed by APHA 3500-Cr modified method explained the acid addition.
