    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Dina Angelia Bistani. 2006. DIURETIC EFFECT OF MILK COFFE ON WHITE RAT (Rattus norvegicus) WITH VARIATION OF MILK KINDS. Biology Departement. Faculty of Mathemathic and Natural Sciences. Sebelas Maret University. Surakarta. Caffeine contents in coffee is a mild diuretic which increase glomerule filtration and reduced natrium reabsorbtion in ren tubule. Some people mixed milk into the coffee because they do not like the bitter taste from caffeine. Milk contains glucose which could made osmotic diuretic and increase urine excretion. The aims of this research were to find out the diuretic effects of orally intakes of coffee milk on white males rat (Rattus norvegicus) with variation of milk kind. This research was done in Biology Sub Laboratory, Central Laboratory of MIPA UNS, Surakarta, Central Java. Complete Randomized Design with five groups and four replications to each group was used in this study. The treatments applied for those groups were : Group I: aquades, Group II: coffee solution, Group III: coffee + sweetened condensed milk solution, Group IV: coffee + soymilk solution, and Group V: coffee + skim milk solution. The parameters used for the physical characteristics of the urine were volume, colour, clearness, pH and density. The parameters used for the chemical characteristics were glucose analysis by Benedict test for qualitative and spectrophotometry for quantitative, also analysis of NaCl content by Fantus method. The data were analyzed by using analysis of variance (Anova) and continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at significant level 5%. The result showed that variation of milk kind were not effect on volume, colour, clearness, pH, density, and glucose content after 4 hours treatments, but effect on NaCl content after 4 hours treatments.
