## Abstract

ABSTRACT Chuswatun Chasanah. THE RELATION BETWEEN THE STYLE AND MOTIVATION OF LEARNING MATHEMATICS WITH THE ACHIEVEMENT OF MATHEMATICS OF THE FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS OF ELEMENTARYSCHOOLS IN KLIRONG SUB-DISTRICT IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2017/2018.Thesis, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta.March 2018. The objectives of this research are to know whether: (1) there is a positive correlation between learning style with learning achievement of Mathematics, (2) there is a positive correlation between learning motivation with learning achievement of Mathematics, and (3) there is a positive correlation between the style and motivation of learning Mathematics with the achievement of Mathematics learning of the fifth grade students in elementary schools in Klirong sub-district in the academic year of 2017/2018. The population in this study is all the fifth graders of public elementary school in Klirong sub district in the academic year 2017/2018. The selected samples were the fifth graders in nine elementary schools from 36 elementary schools in Klirong sub-district taken by cluster random sampling technique. This research uses correlational method. The data were collected by questionnaire technique to collect data of learning style and motivation of Mathematics and by using test to collect data of students’Mathematics learning achievement. Data were analyzedby using regression test for dummy variable and correlation test for interval variable with significance level of 5%. The results of the study are as follows. First, there is a correlation between learning styles and Mathematics learning achievement (F count = 7.672> F table = 3.029). Correlation of 0.232 and the result is 5.4%. Second, there is a correlation between the motivation of learning Mathematics with Mathematics learning achievement (t count = 8.878> t table = 1.969). Correlation of 0.475 and the result is 22.6%. Third, there is a correlation between learning style and motivation of Mathematics with Mathematics learning achievement (F count = 29.934> F table = 3.029). Correlation of 0.501 and the result of learning style and motivation of Mathematics on students’ Mathematics learning achievement is 25.1%. Based on the results of the research mentioned above, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant correlation between the style and motivation of learning Mathematics with the achievement of Mathematics learning of the fifth grade students of public elementary schools in Klirong sub-district in the academic year of 2017/2018 simultaneously or separately. Suggestions to teachers is that they should recognize the learning styles of each student and help students to recognize their learning styles. In addition, teachers should always do learning activities with specific strategies so that students are motivated to always learn and pursue a good achievement.
