    Abstract

THE EFFECT OF FISHBOWL DISCUSSION IN THE GUIDED INQUIRY CONTEXT TOWARD STUDENTS’ CRITICAL THINKING SKILL AND LEARNING MOTIVATION.Bachelor Thesis, Surakarta: Faculty of Teacher Training and Education,Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, September 2017. The research was aimed to find out (1) the effect of fishbowl discussion in the guided inquiry context toward students’ critical thinking skill; and (2) the effect of fishbowl discussion in the guided inquiry context toward students’ learning motivation. The research was a Pretest-Post test Nonequivalent Control Group Design of the Quasi-Experiment. Population for the research was Grade X MIPA students of SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura Academic Year 2016/2017. The samples were taken using purposive sampling technique, X MIPA 5 Class as experiment class and The X MIPA 4 Class as control class. The experiment class was treated using guised inquiry combined with the fishbowl discussion, the control was treated by using guided inquiry without fishbowl discussion. The data were collected using tests for students’ critical thinking skill and questionnaire for students’ learning motivation. Data were analyzed using Independent Sample t-Test with Sig: 0.05. The result showed (1) there were effects of the fishbowl discussion in guided inquiry context toward students’ critical thinking skill (sig. <0.05). (2) there were effects of the fishbowl discussion in guided inquiry context toward students’ learning motivation (sig.<0.05). Therefore, the fishbowl discussion in guided inquiry context affecting students’ critical thinking skill and learning motivation.
