    Abstract

APPLICATION OF COGNITIVE RESTRUCTURING TECHNIQUES TO INCREASE SELF ESTEEM SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT IN SMA NEGERI 8 SURAKARTA ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017. Thesis. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Sebelas Maret Surakarta. December 2017 This research aims was to find out the application of cognitive restructuring techniques to increase self esteem of special needs students with visual impairment in SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta academic year 2016/2017. This research was an experimental research using a single case experimental design with A-B design. Research subjects were special needs students with visual impairment in SMA Negeri 8Surakarta totaling 2 person. The data was collected by using a low self esteem behavior observation instrument. Data were analyzed by using statistical analysis with percentages techniques and qualitative analysis. Based on the research, this study obtained the result that the calculation by applying percentages analysis techniques showed a change of percentage to subject 1 in the behavior of low self esteem at 62,5% and change of presentage in the behavior of low self esteem at 58,8% of subject 2. The result of percentage analysis were supported by the result of qualitative analysis. Researcher observed during the intervention and have seen a change in behavior on subjects that has shown an increased levels of self esteem. This research showed that there was a difference between the baseline data measurement phase with the data post-intervention measurements levels of self esteem. The conclusions from this research showed that cognitive restructuring techniques could be apply to increase self esteem of special needs students with visual impairment in SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta the academic year 2016/2017.
