    Abstract

    Narrow brown leaf spot (Cercospora oryzae) is one of the most important diseases of rice. The disease can lead to decrease rice productivity and loss of the yield so it needs sustainable development of control efforts. This study aims to determine the inhibitory capacity of Bacillus to the growth of C. oryzae pathogens in vitro and in vivo. The study was conducted in the Laboratory of Plant Pests Diseases in Palur, Sukoharjo and greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture UNS Surakarta. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 replications with observed variables: incubation period, infected leaf, narrow brown leaf spot, infection rate and disease index. The results showed that Bacillus antagonism with the highest ability to inhibit C. oryzae in vitro was BAN2 isolate of 16.67%. The results of in vivo test showed that the best antagonistic potential was isolate BAN4 because it has the smallest spot area 0,51 mm2, the infection rate of the lowest spots 0,02 mm2/day and it has the lowest disease index 3,37%.
