    Abstract

    Siwi Nur Wakhidah, D0213089, Female Identity in Popular Culture (Case Study of Female Identity Representation on K-Pop Fans Behavior in South Korea Popular Music Festival in Surakarta) Communication Science of Social and Political Sciences, UNS K-Pop has become one of popular culture which infatuated by young people in Indonesia, especially female. The domination of female’s act in K-Pop seen from their activity and also their behavior. The fondness of K-Pop by young female annotate long list about their collective identity, so it makes their personal identity as female become vague. This study esteemed female as a consumer of popular culture, who mold a specific behavior as their identity representation, while they are in K-Pop Festival. The aim of this study is to find out identity’s representation in feminism perspective and popular culture aspect inside female who devotee of K-Pop. This study used observation, in-depth interview, and literature as a data collective’s methods. Also, this research used interactive analysis to analyze the data, and source triangulation technique to checked validation of the data. And, the result said, female identity of K-Pop’s devotee when they are in a K-Pop festival is divided become personal identity as female, and collective identity as fans. Which is in one’s sober senses, they will perform their collective identity, however in unrealized senses, they influenced by their personal identity. So, their female identity representation showed became remix hybrid, that’s performed as expressive behavior because of dance cover groups and how they performed themselves in fashion.
