    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Dyah Ayu Intan Kusumaningrum, D0313021, 2017, Hubungan Kerja Patron Klien Antara Pengusaha Dengan Pekerja Dalam Sentra Industri Pembuatan Brem Di Desa Kaliabu Kecamatan Mejayan Kabupaten Madiun, Thesis: Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Science and Political Science, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. The work relation is a relation that happens between employer and worker held after previous agreement by the parties concerned. The work relation of patron client is a relationship exchange relationship between two roles which can be expressed as a special case of ties involving friendship instrumental where an individual with a higher sosio-economic status (patron) uses its resources and influence to provide protection, as well as advantages for a person with a supposedly inferior status (client). This study aims to describe the work relation that occur between employer and worker in the industrial centers of manufacture of Brem in Kaliabu, Mejayan, Madiun and know what the factors that cause a worker can be persevere in the work relation of patron client with employer. This study used the social exchange theory by George C. Homans. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The process of collecting data is done through several techniques, such as interview, observation, and documentation. The author used purposive sampling technique to collect data in this study. The informants in this study are the entrepreneurs of brem, workers, and chief of the village. The validity of the data used triangular method. To analyze the data, this study used interactive analysis models. The results in this study indicate the presence a work relation of patron client between worker and employer who occupy the position of the employer as a patron and worker as a client because of the socio-economic status differences in the society life and made a reciprocal relationship between employer with worker. Employer and worker carrying out the rights and obligations of each. Then, the client and patron relations able to survive until now. Continuity is caused by several actors, among others, alternative work limitations caused by the lack of education so that the competition is very tight, the presence of good turn factor, and low mobility in Kaliabu communities.
